[Video] Q-Tip at Red Bull Sound Academy New York

Awhile back Kanye West was hyping a song titled “Mama’s Boyfriend” for what was My Beautiful Dark twisted Fantasy at the time. He originally previewed the track acapella at the Facebook offices. It turned out the track would never be released other than a version that was said to be a made up beat. When Q-Tip went to the Red Bull Sound Academy in New York he touched a little more on the song, even saying that there were many versions. Jump to the 1 hour and 36 minute mark to hear “Mama’s Boyfriend.”

Joey Bada$$ – Word Is Bond (prod. Statik Selektah)

joey

I’ve gotten to the point that even no matter how much I try and dislike Joey Bada$$ for numerous behavior/attitude issues, that I think his music is getting pretty undeniable. I still keep “Unorthodox” and some other choice gems off 1999 in steady rotation. This jam produced by Statik Selektah is every bit as strong. It’s the first single off of his Summer Knights EP that drops on June 12th. Enjoy.

Mixtape: Travi$ Scott – Owl Pharaoh

Travis-Scott-Owl-Pharaoh_Mixtape-600x600

Kanye’s latest protege from Houston, Travi$ Scott, drops off this free project for everyone who has been anticipating it since his public affiliation with G.O.O.D and Grand Hustle. That’s quite the company to keep and the tracklist is loaded, so I doubt anyone will be dissatisfied with the project. As long as Fauntleroy is involved, I’m down. He’s a beast behind the boards as well (hence the G.O.O.D. deal for his production), and I’m thoroughly looking forward to checking it all out shortly. Download below.

Pairadime Music Presents: Stompboxx Music – Out The Boxx w/ Jay-Z pt. 2

s1qq_OutTheBoxxBounce_1

The dynamic production duo, Stompboxx Music, is once again blessing the masses with incredible tones. True to their timeless beat-tape releases, M.Simp & Sharpsoundz have decided to take a different approach on their latest effort. Out The Boxx features one the greatest modern day poets, Jay-Z, over that unique Stompboxx sound.

“When we decided on our next creative project release, we wanted to do something out the box(x). Something fun. We have always wanted to work with the best and it doesn’t get any better than Jay. It started as something in-house to see how our creativity would mesh with timeless Jay records. However, after the first few joints, it was apparent that this would be released. Our intention is just showcase how our production would sound with world’s greatest artists.” -Stompboxx Music

Here is the second installment of the series. Word to Sharp and Simp for knocking this one out the park as well.

[Video] Pretty Lights – A Color Map of the Sun (teaser + release date)

Pretty-Lights-New-Album-715x476

Derek Vincent Smith of Pretty Lights gives us the release date of the long awaited album A Color Map of the Sun and debuts a new teaser video for it. The studio album can be downloaded for free July 2nd or you can purchase the two-disc collection containing the 13-track album plus a second CD, Live Studio Sessions From A Color Map of the Sun, as well as a vinyl. Unarguably this album will be one of the best most original EDM albums released in a long time.

Two years were spent perfecting and mastering this album with all original samples.  Smith traveled the world and recorded different sounds and musicians, then pressed all of his recordings onto a self-made vinyl. With all the work put into this album, it was essential to capture the whole process on this teaser made by the Pretty Lights team.  The video starts out with “Real 15 Break 5”, the first track off the Live Studio Sessions part of the record. Then the second half features “Color of My Soul” which is on A Color Map of the Sun. The second song was sampled from the first song, essentially showing the production process.

“…this isn’t just an album; it is a massive collection of music beyond what is on the CDs that I will continue to put out after the album release. There is an insightful documentary film on the making of this project to be released alongside the launch of the album, as well as a music video for every song. They are all beautiful and uniquely unusual pieces of art.”

Catch Pretty Lights performing songs from A Color Map of the Sun at multiple festivals this summer including Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, and Summerfest.

“…I made this music for everyone. Support this release and let’s show the world how we do. The time is now.”

Destro – Head Blown (feat. Dex Kwasi) (prod. by Shlohmo)

I woke up with this song in my inbox and had to get it up immediately. Destro, hailing from California, has complete control on the beat as she’s able to coast over the track. Whether it is something to lean, roll up, or ride around to to Destro’s able to cover all needs with “Head Blown.” Destro also gets Dex Kwasi to throw in a verse that helps compliment the song well.
