Derek Smith has been changing the game. In only a few short years he’s taken his Pretty Lights project to international levels, selling out virtually every show he performs. On January 25th he announced his new record label as a platform for up-and-coming electro acts, and released 2 new EPs for free from his newly signed artists.

Break Science consists of drummer Adam Deitch and keyboard wiz Borahm Lee, who play the roles of producer, programmer, and composer. Their music can be described as a blend of Dubstep, Drum & Bass, and Hip-Hop. They have performed and produced for a lot of well known acts including Wu-Tang, Matisyahu, Lauren Hill, Snoop Dogg, 50-cent, Talib Kweli, and Justin Timberlake. Of their sound, Adam says,

I don’t see why it’s necessary to play one particular tempo (bpm) or a specific style of breakbeat. Electronic music is still a brand new genre and the rules are wide open. We want to combine the fans of pre-existing electronic genres as well as bring live music lovers into that fold.

Here are a couple tracks to preview before you go download their EP Further Than Our Eyes Can See on the PLM record label site for free, where you can also check out a couple other new acts on the Pretty Lights label.
