John Bourke, as he’s known around these parts, AKA Gosteffects just blessed us with his latest EP, Kick The Bass, which you can either stream below, or download for a small fee over on iTunes & Beatport. The project features a few tracks you might have heard that released earlier this year (“House Of God” still receives heavy play on The Hype Machine despite being released 4 months ago), as well as a couple of new ones (“Tear The Club Up”, “Yeah!”) that I REALLY enjoy. All I can really say about this one is that A$AP Rocky and dubstep were meant for each other. You can take that statement however you’d like… Nothing too spectacular here but it’s worth taking note; I was telling my buddy Jantsen a couple weeks ago that it was only a matter of time before people started remixing Dat Pretty Mothaf*cka in droves and here we are. At the least this one’s a well put-together remix of a played out song and at best it’s a nice change of pace from one of your (still played out… seriously, I’m over A$AP you guyz) favorite winter anthems. Here you go

I had the pleasure of kicking it with the SMOG crew (12th Planet, Flinch, Danny United) a couple of weeks ago in OKC and was really blown away by how genuine they are, both in their approach to the music and interactions with fans. During his set, Flinch somehow managed to drop this little ditty on us without making the building crumble to the ground, which was a feat in itself considering the amount of bass being pumped through the 350 capacity night club. “Light It Up” is an absolute banger off of his latest EP of the same name, which has shot straight to the top of the charts on Beatport. Give it a listen below

I haven’t been blessing you guys with enough electro lately and I’m here to fix that. You may have heard of ELM & OAK Records lately after the release of Cherub’s latest album MoM & DaD. Here’s another E&O duo on the come up- twin brothers Kendrick and Sherwyn Nicholls, aka Two Fresh. The Oklahomie PrototypeRaptor is easily one of the most skilled producers I’ve seen out of this state in a long time. His Skrillex/Excision bootleg “SkrilleXXX-Rated” was one of my favorites of 2011 and the fire keeps coming. This one was released a few minutes ago on his SoundCloud. Check it out below along with a couple more dope tracks, including his original mix “Drive Hard” which has somehow snuck back onto Hype Machine‘s popular page 7 months after its release.

Got turned onto these guys by the homie Alex B., who, aside from crushing it as Paper Diamond has been silently killing the game with his music label/art & design company ELM & OAK. Alex had me convinced that his recent signees Cherub were about to blow up before I had even listened to their music, and it turns out he was right. Their latest album MoM & DaD brings back the electro-dance-funk vibe we saw with bands like Chromeo and MGMT and adds a little bit of Weeknd-esque sexiness. It even has a nice little feature from Big Gigantic’s Dominic Lalli on the track “Hold Me”.  You’ll for sure be seeing these guys everywhere by the end of the year.
