I hate remixes so it takes a great one for me to like it. A mixtape full of remixes? Well that tape would have to be exceptional. Both continuing to provide a different take on a song while still respecting the initial product. It would have to be downright dopeness. Weirdly enough in comes Portland’s own Chi Duly to provide an interesting and noteworthy take on some of the best songs from The Weeknd’s 2011 trilogy of fire tapes. Grab this and vibe. Tracklist. I don’t like remixes. Certain artists will always garner a listen and occasionally an exception comes along. When an artist on a song demands an mp3 of a remix be made available you can usually bet it’s legit, and that’s exactly the case of this remix by Shlohmo whom The Weeknd begged to release this after he performed it live. This is dope.

Just when you thought you’d heard the last remix of Avicii’s “Levels”, TheFatRat throws his hat into the ring. This is actually a fun remix with a distinctly different feel than the original (and that ridiculous Skrillex remix) although I can’t stand hearing this Etta James sample anymore. Stream/DL below

D.Veloped released a 40-something minute mixtape last Friday and I’ve been jamming this amazingness all week. You can always count on the guy to come through with some nice mashups, some of which you might recognize in the tape. He also throws in quite a few new edits, putting his spin on a number of popular dance tracks and remixes. My overall favorite, though, has to be his edit of the Dillon Francis track “IDGAFOS” coming in at about the 8:00 mark. I’ve been waiting for this one to drop for a cooool minute. Hyundai Veloster recently teamed up with the Grammys to bring you something completely new, pairing up 5 established producers (DJ Premiere, Mark Ronson, Skrillex, The Crystal Method, & Pretty Lights) with unlikely counterparts from a variety of genres. Some of it worked (Skrillex/ The Doors & DJ Premiere/ Nas/ Berklee Symphony Orchestra), some of it didn’t (Pretty Lights/ Ralph Stanley/ LeAnn Rimes was a complete disaster), but all in all it’s an amazing project. The film will be showing in select theaters Feb. 16 & 23rd but for now download the soundtrack complete with bonus remixes (see Pretty Lights COMPLETELY redeem himself). You can also stream a few of our favorites after the jump
