Gramatik does this one justice, giving it a dope hip-hop flavor that really outshines the original track (never thought I’d be saying that). Words cannot express how amazing it was to be a part of this show. 80,000 plus people showed out to rage… and raging was indeed accomplished. The set lasted ’til about 5:15 a.m.,  and absolutely blew my face off. The new light setup was  the coolest thing I’ve ever seen at a Pretty Lights show… I already can’t wait to see it again. Check out the HD video recap of the show edited to the BRAND NEW unreleased track “I Know The Truth”, which was the song he opened up with. Hell yes.

Pretty Lights just dropped his first track of 2011, a mashup/remix of Radiohead’s “Everything In Its Right Place” x Nirvana’s “All Apologies” x Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer”. I really dig the Pretty Lights mashup formula: mash the tracks and then remix the hell out of it with the unique Pretty Lights sound. Be sure to check him out if you’re heading to Bonnaroo this week, word on the street is he’s got some bangers up his sleeve! Can’t wait.

In case you weren’t aware, electronic duo Daft Punk did the soundtrack for Disney’s Tron: Legacy. In case you weren’t also aware, it was pretty underwhelming. Fortunately, they just released a remix album featuring some of today’s most popular DJs, and it isn’t as bad as the original. Can’t say I enjoyed the whole thing but there were a few stand outs, like this Pretty Lights version of ‘Solar Sailor’, which you can cop below the stream.

Here’s another dude that recently signed to the Pretty Lights Music label, Paper Diamond. I definitely recommend checking his music out. You can get his new album for free over at Pretty Lights Music

The Paper Diamond sound has raw energy and the kind of dramatic anticipation only a seasoned producer can incite. Driving beats and bass grab on tight while deep, rich tones rumble under layers of spacey synthesizers, sweet melodies, and catchy vocals. One thing is for sure. The energy is high.
